Who We Are

Princeton Living Well

Princeton Living Well (PLW) is a multifaceted healthy lifestyle project designed to promote diabetes prevention, weight control, and general wellness throughout the entire Princeton community. Our goal is for all members of the community – residents, retail businesses, restaurants, healthcare providers, and local organizations – to come together to form a supporting network, encouraging individuals to increase their physical activity, manage their weight, and develop and maintain healthier lifestyles.

Member benefits include:

  • This community Web site is devoted to providing a wealth of personal and community resources to support healthy lifestyles. This includes our comprehensive Community Calendar of events, Community Listings “yellow pages,” local and national Articles about health and wellness, Health Blogs, networking Forums, Health Tips and News, Health Links to local and national resources, Living Well Navigator, and Health Tools to calculate, record, and track personal data and statistics for physical activity, weight, and more.
  • A rewards system – developed with a University of Minnesota epidemiological research team – that allows members to trade in “points” for Princeton area services or merchandise.
  • A member card used to receive discounts at local retailers and restaurants.

PLW is a pilot program, initially supported by a grant from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The project was developed and implemented by Viocare Technologies, Inc., a Princeton-based healthcare software development company, with researchers and healthcare specialists associated with Yale University and the University of Minnesota. The program will be replicated in other areas around the country.
